Information about South Australian legislation is recorded in four steps:
- Whenever proclamations or selected notices are made, information is added to the home pages of related legislation
- Whenever a piece of principal legislation is changed, detailed information about the change is added to the Legislative History at the end of that document
- Every two weeks all changes made to any legislative history are added to the Cumulative Fortnightly Update
- At the end of each calendar year all information in the Cumulative Fortnightly Update is added to the Index of South Australian Legislation ('the Index'). After the information from a Cumulative Fortnightly Update is incorporated into the Index a new Cumulative Fortnightly Update starts being kept.
